Coronavirus Pandemic: Local administration arranges 3 buses for the laborers stranded in Siliguri

Siliguri, 24th March: Due to the lockdown of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, hundreds of stranded laborers gathered at the Junction area in Siliguri, today evening. Seeing the crowds of people, the Siliguri Sudivisonal Officer along with the local administration arranged 3 buses to help the laborers reach their homes.
On March 22, the Bengal government directed lockdown in all the municipal corporations to contain the spread of the coronavirus; under which Siliguri Municipal Corporation closed since Monday 5 pm. In view of the outbreak of the coronavirus, the train and other state bus services were also stopped by the state government. Due to the closure of bus and train, the laborers were stranded in Siliguri. Some of the workers who gathered at the Junction area were residents of Alipurduar, Cooch Behar and Guwahati.
