Siliguri, 17th November: A couple from Cooch Behar was arrested with 5 kgs of cannabis. The arrested accused have been identified as Kalikanta Rishi and Kakoli Rishi of Mekhliganj.
Reportedly, Kalikanta Rishi arrived at Phansidewa with his wife in a scooter from Mekhliganj late last night to smuggle cannabis. Receiving a tip-off, the police detained them at the Jhamaklaljote area in Phansidewa block and recovered 5 kgs of cannabis from their possession.
According to police sources, the accused had been running this business for a long time. Police have also confiscated the vehicle. A case has been filed against them under the NDPS act and sent to the court today. Police are investigating the whole incident.
