Construction of a proper drainage system in South Ambedkar Colony is set to begin at a cost of crores after 32 years

Siliguri, 26th December: The South Ambedkar Colony under Ward No. 01 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) is all set to construct a proper drainage system after 32 years. On Tuesday, Ward No. 1 councilor Sanjay Pathak laid the foundation stone for the construction work.

According to reports, the construction work will cost a high-priced budget of Rs 2 crore 1 lakh. It is to be noted that the South Ambedkar Colony used to be submerged during the rainy season due to a faulty drainage system. As a result, the residents of the ward have been dealing with this issue for the past 32 years. Several councilors chaired the ward, but no solution to the area’s problems was found. On the other hand, Ward Councillor Sanjay Pathak has resolved the issue after 32 years.

In this regard, the ward residents stated that they had been battling the issue of waterlogging for 32 years. Every time before the elections, the residents were assured of the construction of an adequate drainage system but to no avail. However, in a commendable initiative undertaken by the Ward Councilor Sanjay Pathak, the required drainage will be constructed. As a result, ward residents are contented with the commencement of the construction work of a proper drainage system.
