CM Mamata Banerjee lashed out at Netaji’s event in Kolkata

Kolkata, 23rd January: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declined to speak at an event organized to celebrate Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary at the Victoria Memorial, on Saturday. The event was also graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar.

As the Chief Minister was walking on to the stage to deliver her speech for the occasion, the crowd present at the site started chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans. Banerjee appeared visibly annoyed when she started to address the gathering.

“I think Govt’s program should have dignity. This is not a political program….It doesn’t suit you to insult someone after inviting them. As a protest, I won’t speak anything,” Banerjee said before walking out of the podium refusing to give a speech.
