City-auto drivers protest against Totos in Phansidewa

Phansidewa, 31st March: Today, auto drivers took out a rally by blocking plying of autos on Phanisdewa’s Chathat road. Auto drivers protested alleging that they are facing a lot of problems in meeting the expenses of rent and auto due to the illegal operation of Totos on the state roads. Adding to their complaints, they said that there have been incidents like disputes and squabbling with Toto drivers frequently. Due to this, today the auto drivers blocked the movement of autos and joined the protest. 


On the other hand, Phansidewa police reached the spot as soon as the news of the incident was received. Later a memorandum was handed over to Phansidewa BDO on behalf of SIT Auto Driver Union. They also protested by proceeding to Phansidewa police station. 

In this regard, the organization’s secretary Jagdish Roy said that auto drivers are facing trouble at the hands of Toto drivers for picking up passengers. he further alleged that the auto drivers are repeatedly attacked on the roads. Totos are plying on the road without valid documents even after the auto drivers drive the vehicles by following the government guidelines and producing government documents. The members have warned to launch bigger protest on April 5th if the problems are not resolved. Later, the city auto drivers called off the protest on the assurance of the police.
