Siliguri, 21st March: A youth from Chopra was arrested by police from Siliguri’s Ashighar Outpost in connection with an alleged fraud involving several lakhs of rupees.
According to police sources, the accused, while working in a private company, posed as a manager and collected money from multiple individuals through various means. Despite promising to return the money, he allegedly failed to do so and later fled the area.
Among the victims, a woman lodged a written complaint at Chopra Police Station. During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused was hiding in Siliguri.
Acting on the information, police launched a search operation and traced his location in the Ashighar Outpost area. The accused was subsequently arrested and brought to the police station.
Later, after completing all legal formalities, he was handed over to Chopra Police Station for further action.
