Chinese nationals arrested in Siliguri: Siliguri court sent the defendants to 13 days police remand

Siliguri, 17th March: The two Chinese nationals arrested on Tuesday from Bagdogra airport were produced at the Siliguri court today. They have been taken into police custody for 13 days for further questioning.


Prosecutor Sudip Roy Basunia said that two Chinese nationals, Jang Jung and Kai Leng, were detained by CISF personnel from Bagdogra airport yesterday. Following this, the duo was handed over to the Bagdogra police. After investigation, the police registered a case under Sections 468, 467, 120 / B, and 14 (Al, 14 (B)) against the two accused and started further investigation.

The duo was produced at the Siliguri ACJM court today. After hearing from both parties, the judge directed that the two be taken in police custody for 13 days.


On the other hand, defence counsel Gyanendra Dewan said that the duo worked in a hotel in Tirupati. On Tuesday, they were on their way to Tirupati from Bagdogra airport via Hyderabad when they were apprehended by the CISF officials. He claimed that their visas had expired during the pandemic. Apparently, their families will soon reach Siliguri with all the necessary documents, after which they will be proved innocent.
