Siliguri, 20th April: A chain-snatching incident in the Jaleshwari Bazar area near Siliguri Eastern Bypass has triggered panic among residents.
According to reports, the incident occurred early in the morning when a woman had stepped out near her home to collect flowers. During this, two young men riding a motorcycle approached her and asked for some flowers. Taking advantage of the interaction, the duo suddenly snatched the gold chain from her neck and fled the spot.
The matter was immediately reported to the Ashighar Outpost, who reached the scene and initiated an investigation. Officials are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the accused.
Police sources indicated that similar incidents of chain snatching were reported from different parts of Siliguri on the same day. Preliminary findings suggest that the same two individuals, moving around on a motorcycle, may be involved in carrying out such crimes across the city. A search operation has been launched to apprehend the suspects at the earliest.
