Central forces to remain in the state for 10 more days: Calcutta HC

On Monday, the Calcutta High Court (HC) announced that the Central forces, deployed in West Bengal for overseeing the recently concluded Panchayat Polls, would continue to remain stationed in the state for an additional 10 days.

According to reports, a division bench led by Chief Justice T.S. Sivagnanam made this ruling after Advocate General S.N. Mukherjee informed the HC that the state government had formally approached the Centre to extend the stay of the forces until August 02. This request was made in accordance with an order passed by the same bench on the preceding Friday.
