Carcass of elephant calf recovered from a field in Dalgaon Forest Basty

Alipurduar, 23rd November: Stir arose in the area after the carcass of an elephant calf was found on the Munshi line of Dalgaon Forest Basty.


Reportedly, on Wednesday morning the locals found the carcass of the said calf lying in the field and the forest department was informed about it. Shortly after receiving the information, Devdarshan Roy, assistant wildlife conservator of Jaldapara National Park, and other forest personnel reached the spot.

As per the information received, the dead body of a male elephant was about six-seven years old. The carcass has been recovered and taken to Jaldapara and the cause of death will only be ascertained after the post-mortem.
