Call center under the garb of fortune telling busted in Siliguri, 9 including 6 women taken into custody

Siliguri, 17th December: Siliguri Metropolitan Police’s Panitanki Out Post uncovered a call center operating under the pretext of fortune telling in Punjabi Para. Today the police of Panitanki Out Post along with Siliguri police station have arrested 9 people including 6 women by running a campaign in the said call center


Reportedly, on July 15 a team of DD and SOG had exposed the call center under the guise of astrology and of digital media where 21 women and 29 people were arrested. The owner of the institute Gaurav Saxena and manager Ashish Chaurasia was also involved and recently both were released on bail.

After this, the police received a tip-off that Gaurav Saxena has again started a new business on the second floor of the same building in Punjabi Para by resorting to some other name. As soon as the information was received, the police of Siliguri police station, under the leadership of OC Pappu Singh of Panitanki Out Post, once again launched a campaign. During this a total of 9 people were detained from the said call center including manager Ashish Chaurasia.


According to information received from police sources, Gaurav Saxena and manager Ashish Chaurasia have changed their names and started scamming people under the pretext of fortune-telling. Although Gaurav Saxena has a license in Astrology because of which he has been granted bail and released from the court.
