Fulbari, 11th July: A grocery shop in the Paschim Dhantala area under Fulbari II Gram Panchayat was burgled after miscreants allegedly dug through the ground behind the shop to gain entry, triggering concern in the locality.
According to reports, local resident Binay Roy, who runs the grocery shop to support his family, discovered the theft when he opened the shop on Saturday morning. He found the shop ransacked, with goods scattered inside and signs of damage.
It was later found that the miscreants had allegedly dug through the soil behind the shop, created an opening and entered the premises through that route.
The accused allegedly fled with several thousand rupees in cash along with some goods from the shop.
After being informed, police from New Jalpaiguri Police Station reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
