Alipurduar, 07th January: In a tragic incident, a BSF jawan, Abhishek Oraon (23), from Kalchini block, tragically passed away due to deteriorating health while returning home on leave. His death has left the Nimtijhora Tea Estate in Kalchini block in mourning.
Reportedly, Abhishek Oraon, a constable in the BSF stationed in Jammu and Kashmir, was traveling home by train on Sunday when his health suddenly worsened in the Baruni area of Bihar. He was removed from the train and rushed to the nearest hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The news of his death reached his family on Monday morning.
The body of the deceased jawan arrived at his house in Nimtijhora Tea Estate on Tuesday, where grief-stricken villagers gathered to pay their respects. His last rites were performed with full military honors, including a gun salute from BSF jawans. People from surrounding villages also attended the ceremony.
Abhishek’s mother works as a tea plantation worker, while his father is a daily wage laborer. The family expressed their pride in their son, who had joined the BSF just a year ago after receiving a good education. His parents are devastated by his untimely death.
