Siliguri, 22nd July: Siliguri Metropolitan Police achieved success in its ongoing crackdown against substance abuse items smuggling after a youth was arrested with a large quantity of banned cough syrup.
A plainclothes police team of Matigara Police Station conducted a raid based on information and arrested the accused near Gulmohar Apartment at Nishchintapur Tea Garden.
The arrested youth has been identified as Palash Dhali (25), a resident of Simultala under Matigara Police Station.
During a search, police recovered a large number of bottles of banned cough syrup from his possession.
Police registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and produced him before the Siliguri court on Wednesday. Further investigation into the case is underway.
