Siliguri, 15th February: Once again another incident of murder surfaced from Siliguri’s Saheed Colony area of NJP on Tuesday night after a youth was murdered in front of his residence. The deceased has been identified as Tinku Sarkar, who was a toto driver by profession.
On Tuesday night at around 10 o’clock, his blood-soaked body was recovered in front of his house. Reportedly, the locals informed the relatives after seeing the dead body. Acting promptly on the information of the family, the police of NJP police station reached the spot and recovered the body, and sent it to Siliguri district hospital.
Injury marks have been found on the head of the deceased. The police suspect that the young man was killed by hitting his head with a heavy object. The wife of the deceased told that Tinku was at home on Tuesday night and received a call on his mobile at around 9 pm. After which he left the house. Shortly after this, the blood-soaked dead body of her husband was found 100 meters away from the house.
Meanwhile, the police of NJP police station have detained several people for questioning and also the station is examining the call details of the deceased’s mobile phone and the CCTV footage of the area. Ward No. 35 councillor Shampa Nandi said that many people in the area are alarmed after the incident. Councillor further added that the police should find out the culprits at the earliest and justice should be served.
