Siliguri, 10th June: An atmosphere of shock and mourning surfaced in the area after the lifeless body of a newborn girl was recovered from the Jorapani River in the Shantipara area under the jurisdiction of the NJP police station.
According to reports, the locals spotted the body floating in the river earlier on Monday morning. Subsequently, the matter was informed to the NJP police station.
The police officials later arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination. At present, the entire incident is under further investigation.
