Siliguri, 12th March: Sensation prevailed after the body of a 19-year-old girl, identified as Ritu Lohar of Chandmani area, was found lying beside the rail tracks in Matigara this morning. Reportedly, the girl left her house around 5 pm on Friday and did not return. The following morning, her body was recovered at some distance from her house.
Upon receiving the information about the incident, the personnel of Junction GRP reached the spot and recovered the body. The body was then sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for autopsy. According to police sources, an investigation has been started to figure out whether the girl died of other reasons or was hit by the train.
Meanwhile, the family members informed that the girl was dependent on illegal narcotic drugs. Some intoxicants have also been recovered from the spot. The decedent’s father Prem Lohar said that he received the news about his daughter this morning. When he rushed to the spot, he found her body lying near the tracks.
