BJP staged road blockade in Cooch Behar against administrative failure in cattle smuggling

Cooch Behar, 02nd December: The Tufanganj Mandal No. 1 of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a road blockade at the Bhatibari area of Tufanganj in response to the administrative failure regarding the ongoing issue of cattle smuggling in the area.


According to reports, several demonstrators were witnessed protesting against the administration’s lack of response towards the prevailing issue of cattle theft. The protest continued for an hour creating significant traffic congestion in the area. Meanwhile, the officials of the Tufanganj police station arrived at the location upon learning of the incident.

Followed by adequate assurance from the police, the demonstrators eventually lifted the blockade. In this context, the president of BJP Mandal No. 1 Jugal Kishore Das stated that the animals were being driven away from their homes in the Dhalpal No. 1 Gram Panchayat region one after another. Despite multiple complaints, the administration displayed a lack of response in the matter and did not take necessary actions. As a result, the demonstrators had to resort to erecting a road blockade.
