BJP staged a unique protest in Siliguri against drinking water facilities in the city

Siliguri, 13th March: BJP leaders and workers staged a unique protest in Siliguri’s Ward No. 15 by performing ‘Shradh’ ritual to protest against the drinking water facilities in the city.


Reportedly, the BJP leaders arranged the unique protest on Monday morning alleging that drinking water taps arranged across the city have been out of service for the past year. They further said that the residents have to go to other places to get drinking water. Meanwhile, priests who came to perform the ‘Shradh’ ritual were also surprised as this was the first time he has ever performed the ritual for a tap. 

BJP’s Siliguri Organizational District Committee General Secretary Raju Saha said that there is a problem with drinking water in Ward No. 15. Thus, BJP protested to draw the attention of the Deputy Mayor to the water issue. He further warned to launch a massive movement if the problem of drinking water is not resolved in the coming days. 


In response to this, the SMC Deputy Mayor and councillor of Ward No. 15, Ranjan Sarkar said that water is not coming on the stand post as there are some problems. He further added that the tap has to be moved to another place and the board is currently looking for a spot. He commented that the water problem in the city will be resolved soon.
