Siliguri, 11th November: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) joined a protest in front of a petrol pump in the Sahudangi area of Dabgram Fulbari assembly demanding a reduction in the prices of petroleum products. Jalpaiguri BJP MP Dr. Jayanta Roy, Dabgram Fulbari MLA Shikha Chatterjee, and other party workers were present at the demonstration programme.
Jayanta Roy raised questions as to why the central government has reduced tariffs on petrol and diesel in BJP-ruled states but not in Trinamool-ruled West Bengal. The state government should reduce tariffs on petrol and diesel in West Bengal immediately. He warned to stage larger demonstrations if their demands are not met.
