BJP members stage a road blockade in Cooch Behar, alleging voting interference

Cooch Behar, 08th July: Alleged interference in the voting process during the ongoing panchayat polls led to a road blockade organized by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members at booth number 2/197 in the Amta area of Bhojaner Chhara village, under Mathabhanga Block II. The blockade took place at 11 a.m. today.

The BJP workers claimed that they were prevented from casting their votes and faced threats, physical assault, and vandalism of residences. Sushil Barman, BJP MLA from Mathabhanga, accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of obstructing the democratic rights of the people. On the other hand, the TMC dismissed BJP’s allegations as baseless. Pradip Ranjan Roy, the block president of the Trinamool Congress, denied all claims associated with the incident.

Upon receiving news of the blockade, a large police force arrived at the scene. Efforts were made to restore normalcy and a discussion was held with the demonstrators.
