BJP leaders pay respects to MLA Devendra Nath Roy

Along with other mourners, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Raiganj MP Debashree Chowdhury, Jalpaiguri MP Dr Jayanta Roy, Balurghat MP Dr Sukanta Majumdar and Cooch Behar MP Nisith Pramanik paid respects to late Hematabad MLA Devendra Nath Roy, on Tuesday.


It is to be noted that the 59-year-old MLA’s body was found hanging from the verandah ceiling of a mobile shop located a kilometre away from his residence.


 

The BJP has termed Roy’s death a “cold-blooded murder” and has alleged the involvement of Trinamool Congress. The party called for a 12-hour strike across the entire North Bengal has been called by the Bharatiya Janata Party, as a sign of protest.

A delegation led by party General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, met President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday, seeking a CBI inquiry into the suspicious death of the MLA and further demanded the removal of the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal.
