BJP delegation meets President in New Delhi, demands CBI probe into BJP MLA’s suspicious death

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation led by party General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, met President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday, seeking a CBI inquiry into the suspicious death of Hematabad MLA Devendra Nath Roy of North Dinajpur. Furthermore, the BJP delegation demanded the removal of the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal.

Beside Kailash Vijayvargiya, the team included West Bengal Co-Observor Arvind Menon, Minister of State Babul Supriyo, Nominated MP Rajya Sabha Swapan Dasgupta and Darjeeling MP Raju Bista.

It is to be noted that the 59-year-old Devendra Nath Roy’s body was found hanging from the verandah ceiling of a mobile shop located a kilometre away from his residence. The BJP has termed Roy’s death a “cold-blooded murder” and has alleged the involvement of Trinamool Congress.

“Democracy has been hanged in West Bengal,” stated the party General Secretary while addressing the media after meeting the President. Vijayvargiya alleged that until now political workers were being killed in Bengal, and now elected leaders are being murdered and being projected as a case of suicide. “Anarchy prevails in the state, and its government has no right to be in power. We have demanded that the assembly be dissolved,” Vijayvargiya added.

He further alleged that over 105 BJP workers have been killed in Bengal in the last three years. Claiming no state government agency can conduct a fair investigation into the incident, the party has demanded a CBI inquiry.

Meanwhile, the deceased MLA’s family members alleged that Roy was murdered and then hanged to present it as a case of suicide. They also have sought a CBI investigation.
