Bidhannagar couple celebrated their anniversary in a unique way amid lockdown

Siliguri, 15th May: In a heart-warming gesture, Nirmal Ghosh and his wife Soma Ghosh, residents of the Bidhannagar area, decided not to celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary but instead distributed ration and vegetables among the needy people.

As per the report, the couple, with the assistance of social activist Bapan Das, set up a market at the banks of Chenga river on Friday, where people were allowed to collect a variety of ration and vegetables free of cost. Such an initiative has been taken keeping in mind the helpless situation of the poor amid the pandemic.

Nirmal Ghosh stated that he adopted such an initiative after being inspired by the selfless work being done by Bapan Das for the past several days.

Bidhannagar Women’s Welfare Association members Mousumi Pal, Ishita Das, Sadhana Ghosh, and many others were present during the programme.

Meanwhile, Bapan Das stated that more such initiatives will be taken in various areas every week, with the help of which people can pick up necessary commodities as per their choice.
