Siliguri, 03rd March: Bhakti Nagar police station seized a 7 mm pistol and a metal gun replica lighter by conducting an operation at a house in the Janta Nagar area of Ward No. 44 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation. However, they failed to nab Biplav Sarkar (alias Kangaroo), who lives in the house.
According to police sources, Biplav Sarkar has been associated with numerous criminal acts for the past several years. A while back, the police of Panitanki Out Post had arrested him for indulging in the business of firearms. He was recently released on bail.
On Wednesday night, IC Amresh Singh of Bhakti Nagar police station received a tip-off regarding Biplav Sarkar and the firearm hidden in his house. Acting promptly, a special team of police raided Biplav’s house and recovered a pistol during the search. However, Biplav managed to flee away from the scene before the arrival of the police. The police have initiated in search of the miscreant.
