Siliguri, 28th November: The Matigara police seized a huge quantity of betel nuts from a truck, on Saturday night. The truck driver has been arrested in the incident. The arrested truck driver has been identified as Dharm Veer.
According to the information received, the Matigara police received a tip-off that a truck with Haryana-registered number was parked in a suspicious way. Following which, a search was carried out and a huge quantity of betel nut sacks was recovered. After this, the police demanded valid documents of betel nut from the driver, which he failed to show. The police then arrested truck driver Dharm veer on the charge of smuggling betel nuts.
According to the information received from the police sources, a total of 150 bags of betel nuts have been recovered from the truck.
The arrested accused has been produced in Siliguri court today.
