Belakoba Forest Range personnel arrested three with endangered golden takshak

Rajganj, 22nd January: The forest personnel of Belakoba Range arrested three persons along with a golden takshak, a kind of endangered species of gecko. The arrested have been identified as Thutan Jamba, Nar Bahadur Lama, Nadu Ram Pagag. Among the accused, Thutan Jamba is a resident of Arunachal Pradesh while the other two are residents of Assam.


Reportedly, a team of the Belakoba Range under the leadership of Ranger Sanjay Dutta, acting on a tip-off launched a campaign last night in Oodlabari of Malbazar block. A four-wheeler vehicle was detained during the operation and upon searching, the endangered lizard was recovered from the accused.


In this context, Belakoba Ranger Sanjay Dutta said that during interrogation, the accused informed that the golden takshak was being smuggled to Nepal from Meghalaya for around Rs 25 lakh. The accused were produced in the Jalpaiguri court today.
