Bank strike: All-India Bank Strike called on January 31 and February 1

Siliguri, 31st January: The Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) called for a two-day bank strike on January 31 and February 1. Likewise, all the private banks have joined the strike starting from today.

According to reports, thousands of bank employees, who have been waiting for a pay hike since November 2017, are expected to join the strike. Their main demand is to amend the salary agreement of all the Indian bank employees. Despite repeated attempts on behalf of the organization, the central government has not taken any step yet. The union further stated that attempts were made to resolve the issue and call off the strike but all their efforts went in vain.

BEFI member Shyamal Saha stated that several such programmes will be held in March. They warned of staging larger demonstrations if their demands are not met soon.
