Siliguri, 03rd May: In a recent development, the Panitanki Outpost police have apprehended a bank employee for defrauding customers under the guise of facilitating a loan. The accused, identified as Sanat Talukdar, also known as Raja, is a resident of Cooch Behar.
Reportedly, in September 2023, a bank manager lodged a formal complaint at the police station against Talukdar for fraudulent activities and tarnishing the bank’s reputation.
Talukdar has been accused of deceived multiple customers and amassing approximately Rs. 71,000 by promising loans. The police officials were constantly on a hunt for Talukdar, however, he had been absconding, evading arrest.
Significantly, after six months, utilizing mobile tower location tracking, the authorities successfully apprehended the accused from Pundibari area of Cooch Behar district on Thursday.
Following the arrest, Talukdar was presented before the Siliguri court on Friday, where the police sought remand for a detailed interrogation and investigation.
