Cooch Behar, 06th January: A Bangladeshi citizen has been arrested by the officials of the Customs Department, along with gold bars, from the Changrabandha border in Cooch Behar district. The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammad Manir Hussain, a resident of the Faridpur district in Bangladesh.
According to sources, the accused arrested had entered India with a passport from the Changrabandha immigration check post, on Monday. Upon suspicion, the customs officials searched him. During the search, gold bars weighing 2 kg 70 grams were recovered from his possession.
The market value of the seized gold has been estimated to be more than Rs 1 crore.
