Bangladeshi cattle smuggler injured in BSF firing near Cooch Behar’s Mathabhanga

Cooch Behar, 28 January: A Bangladeshi smuggler smuggling cattle on the border has been injured by a BSF bullet. The incident took place on Saturday morning in the Chengerkhata border area under the Mathabhanga police station of Cooch Behar district. The injured Bangladeshi smuggler has been identified as Mohammad Alam (30) and has been admitted to the MJN Medical College Hospital in Cooch Behar.


According to BSF sources, a group of cattle smugglers had gathered at the border on Saturday morning. When BSF tried to stop them, the smugglers attacked the BSF. Later BSF fired in self-defence during which a Bangladeshi smuggler Mohammad Alam was injured, while other smugglers escaped.

After this, the injured Bangladeshi smuggler was rescued and first taken to Mathabhanga Sub Division Hospital, and later referred to Cooch Behar MJN Medical College and Hospital. At the same time, injured Bangladeshi smuggler Mohammad Alam has confessed to cattle smuggling.
