Baikunthapur Rajbari’s Manasa Puja celebrates 514th year with traditional fervor

Jalpaiguri, 18th August: The timeless tradition of Manasa Puja at Baikunthapur Rajbari in Jalpaiguri has marked its 514th year. Commencing this morning, the puja’s rituals and celebrations are set to grace the next three days in accordance with age-old customs.


Witnessing a vibrant gathering of devotees, this Friday witnessed an enthusiastic influx of worshippers since dawn, joined by members of the Royal family. Adding to the festive spirit, the annual Milan Mela has been artfully arranged. This fair attracts visitors not only from various districts of the state but also from neighboring Assam.

Raj Purohit Shibu Ghoshal expressed his contentment regarding the meticulous arrangements made for the puja, assuring that every detail has been tended to with meticulous care. The sacred worship ceremonies commenced early this morning, setting the tone for the puja’s proceedings. Following the completion of the puja, a melodic rendition of “Bishahari Geet” (devotional songs dedicated to Goddess Manasa) is slated to enthrall the devotees.
