Siliguri, 17th March: The city of Siliguri has been covered with a blanket of smoke for the last several days. Due to this, the residents are complaining about breathing difficulties and burning eyes. What might be the reason behind the unusual smoke? Numerous opinions have been surfacing ever since the matter was brought to light.
As per the reports, for the last few days, dry leaves and trees at different places of Baikunthpur forest are allegedly being set on fire. Furthermore, thick blankets of smoke emitted by the fire are spreading in several parts of the city. Environmentalists believe that the smoke is increasing pollution in the city.
On Wednesday evening, another fire was spotted in the Baikunthapur forest adjacent to the Ashighar. The locals started extinguishing the fire by themselves. Now, after such incidents, the citizens are demanding administrative monitoring.
