Bag containing currency notes seized from Naxalbari railway station, one arrested

Siliguri, 21st February: In a recent development, the Siliguri Town Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested an individual with Rs 10 lakh from Naxalbari railway station. The arrested accused, identified as Sushil Sarkar, is stated to be a resident of Baisnabnagar in Malda.


As per police sources, on Tuesday, Sushil was awaiting a train to travel to Kolkata at Naxalbari railway station. During the search, the Siliguri Town GRP team recovered the currency notes from Sushil’s bag.

Upon interrogation, the accused failed to provide an answer regarding the cash which prompted his arrest. In addition, the bag containing cash was confiscated. On Wednesday, the accused was produced in Siliguri court and was taken on a five-day remand for further investigation.
