Siliguri, 12th February: On the occasion of the silver jubilee of the Siliguri Athletics Welfare Organisation, a day-night athletic meet has been organized today for the first time in North Bengal and Siliguri.
Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Siliguri Police Commissioner Akhilesh Chaturvedi and others today inaugurated the athletic meet at Siliguri Kanchenjunga Sports Complex by hoisting the flag, releasing balloons and lighting the torch.
Reportedly, 635 athletes from different districts of North Bengal will participate in the said athletic meet. There will be a total of 52 programmes comprising women’s and men’s sections. Apart from this, national-level players will also participate.
