Siliguri, 20th January: In recent developments, the Siliguri Police has solved an incident of mobile snatching of a youth from Assam who had arrived to visit his relative in Siliguri, within a few hours. The incident led to the arrest of two miscreants identified as MD Chand and Rajkumar
Reportedly, on Saturday, Gobindo Sarkar, a resident of Assam, arrived at Siliguri to visit his relatives. During this, his mobile was snatched by miscreants while boarding an auto at Siliguri’s Venus More (Hashmi Chowk). After the incident, the youth informed the Venus More traffic police regarding the incident.
Subsequently, the matter was reported to the Siliguri police station. Upon receiving the information, the police patrolling van reached the spot and took the youth along. Simultaneously, the miscreant behind the snatching was identified from the CCTV footage.
Significantly, the police first arrested MD Chand from Khalpara. Following interrogations, Rajkumar was also arrested. In addition, the snatched mobile phone was recovered. Later, the mobile phone was returned to its owner. Meanwhile, a case has been registered against both the accused on charges of snatching and presented in Siliguri court.
