Kharibari, 10th June: In an alarming incident, a minor from Assam, allegedly being transported to Nepal under the deception of an eye examination, was sexually assaulted. The accused, identified as Sirajuddin (65), was apprehended by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at the Panitanki area of Kharibari along the Indo-Nepal border.
According to reports, the arrested accused had deceived the minor and transported her from Assam to Nepal for an eye examination. During this, the minor was subjected to sexual assault. Upon being interrogated by the SSB, the accused confessed to the crime and confirmed the allegations.
Later, the police officials arrested the accused based on a complaint from a voluntary organization. On Monday, the accused was produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court. At present, the entire incident is under further investigation.
