Siliguri, 22nd December: The ASHA workers of Darjeeling district staged a protest at Siliguri’s Hashmi Chowk in support of various demands including recognition of government health workers, weekly leave, and PF-pension.The police later reached the spot and lifted the demonstration.
The ASHA workers said that they had launched the ‘Nabanna Abhiyan’ in support of various demands. During the demonstration, they were given a time limit till December 20. After the time limit passed, the ASHA workers across the state went to gherao the CM’s house at Kalighat. Following which they were arrested. Hence, a state-wide protest is being carried out today.
