Siliguri, 15th September: The Anti Crime Wing of Matigara police station arrested an infamous criminal, also known for smuggling drugs, with a firearm. The accused has been identified as MD Ekram alias Babu, a resident of Matigara’s Biswas Colony. However, a policeman was injured while apprehending the criminal.
As per the report, last night, the police received a tip-off regarding MD Ekram who recently started trading firearms. Acting promptly, the cops launched an operation and nabbed Ekram from the Biswas Colony area. However, before the police could bring Ekram to the police station, Ekram’s family along with some local women besieged the cops and tried to release Ekram from their grip.
As the tussle escalated, Ekram’s wife allegedly bit the arm of police officer Uday Chakraborty of Anti Crime Wing. Following this, a large police force from Siliguri Commissionerate reached the spot late at night and successfully brought Ekram to the police station. Today the accused was produced in Siliguri court.
