Siliguri, 16th March: The mushrooming fake call centres in Siliguri have once again come to light after another fake call centre was busted in Siliguri. A total of 20 people including 5 women have been arrested in the said case.
Reportedly, in Phase-3 of Webel IT Park located in Matigara, the police of SOG, DD, and Matigara police station exposed an illegal call centre last Wednesday night, while running a joint operation. People in foreign countries were scammed through the said call centre. The team seized several computers, CPUs, and documents from the office. At the same time, 20 people including the manager and caretaker were arrested.
The arrested manager has been identified as Soni Gupta, a resident of Ahmedabad. As per the preliminary investigation, it has been revealed that the owner of the said call centre is Abhishek Rajput, also a resident of Gujarat. Meanwhile, the police of Matigara police station produced all 20 people in the Siliguri court today. At present, the team police and cyber cell are jointly investigating the said matter.
