Siliguri, 23rd July: Another ATM robbery has shaken Siliguri, this time along the Eastern Bypass. The incident took place around 3:17 a.m. on Wednesday near Loknath Mandir, where four miscreants entered an ATM booth and looted approximately ₹14 lakh using a gas cutter.
While fleeing, they were chased by a police van from Ashighar Outpost but managed to escape. Investigation revealed the gang had stolen a vehicle from Ambikanagar, used it in the robbery, and later abandoned it in Himachal Vihar before fleeing in another car. CCTV footage captured the car theft, and police have identified the vehicle’s owner.
Senior police officials, including DCP Rakesh Singh, visited the scene. He confirmed that four individuals were involved. Recently, a similar ATM heist took place in Champasari, where three members of Haryana’s Nuh gang were arrested. Investigation into the current case is underway.
