Siliguri, 27th May: The traffic department of Siliguri Metropolitan Police has taken an important step to regulate traffic and ensure smooth movement of commuters by introducing a change in roadside parking arrangements in the Panitanki More area.
Earlier, four-wheelers and larger vehicles were parked parallel along the roadside, which often caused partial road blockage while vehicles were being taken out. This frequently led to traffic congestion, causing inconvenience to commuters.
To address this issue, the traffic department has directed that all cars and larger vehicles parked along the roadside must now be positioned in a diagonal or angled manner instead of straight alignment. Officials believe this will make it easier for vehicles to exit without obstructing traffic flow.
According to police authorities, the new parking system is expected to significantly reduce unnecessary congestion and improve overall traffic movement in the area. The initiative has been introduced with a focus on maintaining smooth traffic, especially during peak hours.
