Rajganj, 03rd August: The Ambari-Falakata Girls’ School in Rajganj Block is facing serious challenges due to the lack of basic infrastructure, including proper road connectivity and drainage facilities.
The demand for a separate girls’ school in the Ambari area had been raised for a long time. The demand was finally fulfilled a few years ago, and after operating from Ambari-Falakata Chinta Mohan High School for a long period, the school shifted to its own new building around two years ago.
However, despite having a new building, students, teachers and guardians are facing difficulties due to the absence of basic facilities. During the rainy season, commuting to the school becomes a major challenge as there is no proper road leading to the institution. Students are forced to take an alternative route, which often remains waterlogged up to knee level.
To address the issue temporarily, teachers themselves took the initiative to spread stones and sand on the ground to make a pathway, but the problem remains unresolved.
The school premises are also surrounded by dense bushes, and teachers have alleged that snakes often enter the school during class hours, creating fear among students. In addition, the absence of a boundary wall has led to complaints of theft of school materials.
Students said that a proper road to the school is their biggest requirement, as the lack of connectivity causes difficulties in attending classes regularly.
School teacher Priti Saha said the condition of the school is extremely poor. She stated that there is no proper road to reach the school and the existing route gets submerged in knee-deep water during the monsoon. She also highlighted the need for immediate cleaning of bushes and proper drainage arrangements.
Social worker Biren Sarkar said that the school building was constructed without ensuring basic infrastructure. He alleged that no road was built to connect the school, and due to the absence of proper drainage, rainwater accumulates in the area, turning it into a waterlogged zone. He added that the matter has already been brought to the attention of concerned authorities.
