Siliguri, 03rd August: ‘Road Safety Week 2026’ began in Siliguri on Monday as per the state government’s directive. Organised by Siliguri Metropolitan Police, the special awareness campaign will continue till August 9 with the aim of increasing awareness among people about road safety.
The programme was inaugurated from Air View More in Siliguri, where people were sensitised about road safety measures. Later, a tableau and awareness rally carrying various road safety messages travelled through important areas of the city.
Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh, Siliguri Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza, DCP (Traffic) Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed and other senior police officials were present during the programme.
According to administration sources, several awareness programmes have been planned in the coming days as part of ‘Road Safety Week 2026’.
