Siliguri, 03rd August: The Siliguri Hawkers’ Corner Babsayee Samity and the Mahabirsthan Babsayee Samity on Monday organized a relief collection drive to support people affected by the devastating floods in Assam.
The initiative was held within the market premises, where traders and members of the public came forward to contribute to the relief effort.
Siliguri MLA and West Bengal Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh attended the programme, visited the market, collected donations from traders and residents, and appealed to people to extend support to those affected by the floods.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said everyone should come forward to help the people of neighbouring Assam during this difficult time. The funds collected through the drive will be contributed to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to ensure timely assistance reaches the flood-affected families.
