Siliguri, 21st June: Senior trade union leader Alok Chakraborty has rejoined the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), marking a significant return to the organisation where he previously served as State Secretary.
Chakraborty had earlier left INTUC to join the Trinamool Congress (TMC), where he held several key responsibilities. However, amid the changing political landscape in the state, he has now returned to his former trade union platform.
Following his return, Chakraborty has been appointed as the State General Secretary of INTUC. He has also been entrusted with responsibility for eight districts in North Bengal and named General Secretary of the National Union of Plantation Workers.
Speaking about his decision to leave the Trinamool Congress, Chakraborty said he felt unable to work effectively for the common people while in the party. He clarified that his departure was not driven by any personal grievances and that he chose to return to INTUC to continue working for the interests of the working class.
