Allegations of assault for opposing illegal construction surfaced in Siliguri’s Ward No. 12

Siliguri, 25th September: Sensation prevailed after a man was allegedly attacked for opposing illegal construction at Haren Mukherjee Road in Siliguri’s Ward No. 12. The victim has been identified as Shyamaprasad Ghosh. Following the incident, a complaint was filed at the Panitanki Police Outpost.


As per reports, a house is being allegedly constructed illegally adjacent to the wall of Shyama Prasad Ghosh’s house. This prompted Shyama Prasad to object the construction. Subsequently, work was halted for a few days, however, later it was again resumed.

On Saturday, a dispute broke out between the two parties regarding the issue, during which, Shyama Prasad Ghosh was allegedly attacked. The incident left Shyama Prasad severely injured.


After the incident, the victim filed a complaint at the police station. The matter was also notified to Ward Councilor Basudev Ghosh, however, he did not turn up. In this regard, Shyama Prasad expressed his displeasure over the councillor’s role.

Meanwhile, the Councilor stated that he was engaged in a program on the day of the incident. He added that he would visit the area and initiate necessary steps against the illegal construction.
