AIDSO’s ‘abhiyan’ at NBU with several demands, submits memorandum to university officials

Siliguri, 04th March: The All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) launched its ‘Abhiyan’ at North Bengal University (NBU), demanding the cancellation of four-year degree courses, the announcement of democratic student council elections, reduction of academic expenses, improvement of college infrastructure, appointment of professors, question paper writing in the mother tongue, timely semester examinations, and the appointment of a permanent Vice-Chancellor (VC).

Reportedly, on Tuesday, AIDSO leaders, activists, and supporters marched towards NBU in a procession. However, police stopped them in front of the university gate. Faced with barricades, AIDSO leaders and activists submitted a memorandum to university officials on the road.

AIDSO State Secretary Biswajit Roy stated that despite being blocked, university officials came outside to accept the memorandum, calling it a moral victory.

On the other hand, Acting Registrar Dr. Nupur Das believes that politics will not enter the university.
