Administration lack of initiative to repair crack on Karatoa bridge of Rajganj, locals in despair

Rajganj, 19th March: Problems have seeped way through the cracks of the Karatoa bridge in Rajganj. The said bridge built on the road leading to Gajaldoba has been closed for months. It is alleged that almost three months have passed, and the administration is not taking any initiative to repair the crack on the bridge.

Due to this, the common people as well as tourists are facing problems. It has been told that about three months ago, there was a crack in the bridge of the Karatoa river near Teesta Canal in the Simulguri area of Rajganj on the road going to Gajoldoba. After which the administration immediately stopped the movement on that bridge.

Meanwhile, due to the closure of the bridge, people have to walk several kilometres and pass through Ambari. Some of the people are also risking their lives and plying through the bridge. Despite protesting and blocking the road demanding repair of the bridge, the work has not commenced till now. The locals have demanded from the administration that the bridge should be repaired soon.

Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy said over the phone that they have informed various departments about the said bridge and efforts are being made to start the bridge work soon.
