Kalchini, 19th September: Two people lost their lives in a tragic road accident that occurred in NH 31 Mendabari Mantharam area under Kalchini block, on Sunday morning. The deceased have been identified as Jyotish Sarkar (31), and Ratan Sarkar (35), residents of Serampore.
It has been learned that a truck collided head-on with a small vehicle heading to Siliguri from Assam on Sunday morning. Two persons in the small car died on the spot. The driver of the truck was slightly injured.
Upon receiving the news, the Kalchini police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to Alipurduar district hospital for autopsy. Police are investigating the whole incident.
